Special Needs Stand Alone Trust

Stand-Alone Special Needs Trust (SNT)

A special needs trust allows assets to benefit someone receiving SSI or Medicaid without affecting eligibility for these resources.

These trusts exist because providing long-term care for individuals with special needs is often not financially feasible, but combining inherited assets with government assistance programs can help provide optimal care for a longer period.

We offer both special needs subtrusts and stand-alone special needs trusts, depending on the circumstances. A stand-alone trust can be more flexible and easier to administer, especially when an outside party is acting as trustee to manage the assets in the trust for the special needs individual.

There are many options to provide for special needs individuals, including non-profit organizations for special needs pooled trusts, or fiduciaries who specialize in handling special needs trusts.
